It’s unfortunate that at this time (2/3/09) there are no docks that can charge the phone and the spare battery with only one cable. This dock requires a wall outlet and a powered USB port to charge; and if you use a laptop like I do you’ll probably find it to be a pain–not to mention a mess of cords.

My G1 goes through batteries like a, well, like a G1. Especially lately when I’m talking a lot and I have to turn on the GPS feature to get me around unfamiliar areas. This charger charges not only the battery in the phone but also charges a spare battery and you can either plug it into the wall, your computer or your car charger. What’s not to love? I ALWAYS have a fully charged spare battery available to me now. Love, love, LOVE IT!

This charger works well for both standard and extended life batteries. Only the wall plug needs to be attached to charge both the phone and the extra battery at the same time. You only need both the USB and the wall charger if you wish to charge the spare battery, phone AND interface the phone and pc all at the same time. The only downside is the port cover on the phone needs to be removed to get reliable connections to the phone.

I lost my charger so I decided to get one of these. I love it! It’s a pretty good price and it is very handy for charging my extra battery. It’s a bit hard to shove the phone on the charger because the little mini usb cover gets in the way sometimes. But it really is no big deal at all. Covered the LEDs, they were to bright. Overall it works well. It was cheap. Does what I need it to.

I am glad to have this item, however wish the phone didn’t stand straight up. It’s not quite stable enough to use the touchscreen effectively, but it’s adequate and I don’t regret the purchase. When a cradle that’s as substantial as my old Palm cradles were comes out, I’m all over it.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. I have lost a motherboard on my PC because of it. In setting up a new PC, turning the power off showed me something I didn’t expect. The power from this cradle leaked through the USB cable and kept the PC partly on. I took it off my PC as soon as I discovered that problem, and put the cradle, with only the power plug connected, in my room. It FAILS TO CHARGE THE PHONE EVEN OVER NIGHT!
DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. It will cost a lot more than it’s worth.
